Tel Aviv University joins Bloomberg Connects

Bloomberg Connects is a prestigious digital platform developed by Bloomberg Philanthropies, connecting audiences around the world with leading museums and cultural institutions. Founded through the initiative of philanthropist and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, the platform brings together hundreds of international cultural organizations, making their collections and exhibitions accessible to a global audience.

Through the app, visitors can explore the gallery's exhibitions and take an interactive tour of Tel Aviv University's outdoor sculpture collection across campus. Integrated with Google Maps, the tour offers an accessible, intuitive, and enriching visitor experience for audiences from Israel and abroad.

The initiative to join the platform was led by Dana Golan Miller, Director of the Gallery, whose professional background combines arts management, curatorial practice, and the accessibility of art collections. The project was coordinated by Shani Hakim, a member of the gallery staff and a student in Tel Aviv University's Multidisciplinary Program in the Arts.

As part of the project, Hakim participated in the Bloomberg Connects training program for cultural institutions and was responsible for developing and implementing the platform's digital content in collaboration with the gallery team and additional student assistants. This process reflects the gallery's commitment to integrating art students into its professional activities while providing them with practical, hands-on experience in the field.

The development of the digital content was based on earlier research into Tel Aviv University's sculpture collection, compiled by Prof. Mordechai Omer (1941–2011), founder of both the Gallery and the University's sculpture collection.
