Mission Statement

The Azrieli School of Architecture will confer upon its undergraduate and graduate students the best training for a professional and academic career in architecture, both as a practice and as a field of scholarship. The School aims to prepare its graduates for leading positions in the fields of practical and theoretical architecture, and thereby aspires to become the leader in this field in Israel.

  • The School will confer upon its undergraduate and graduate students the benefits of its placement in The Faculty of Arts at TAU, thus engaging them in the critical discourse of visual culture, cultural studies, arts and crafts, art history, and broadening their scope of attention and expertise for their professional and scholarly future.

  • The School will confer upon its students a broad humanistic cultural basis, to reflect its setting at Tel Aviv University, which encompasses the Faculties of Humanities, Social Sciences, Law, Engineering, Exact Sciences (among others), and will encourage interdisciplinary environmental and critical approaches to practice and research in architecture.

  • The School will maintain a special relationship to its setting in the metropolitan Tel Aviv, and cultivate a broad multi-cultural approach to urban social affairs in a global city setting.

  • The School will regularly host workshops, lectures and courses by international and national leading architects and professors of architecture, to contextualize its program in the frame of contemporary innovative research and practice, thus creating a network of knowledge and practice in an international setting and in a community of practice.

  • The School will address diverse agendas regarding society in Israel, and engage in social activity with a variety of communities, thus exposing its students to the challenge of humanistic architecture and training them to their role as cultural agents.

  • The School will nourish and develop a faculty of excellent teachers, who are active professionals in the field, and who profess a design research agenda which they import to the classroom and studio. The School will also seek out research and teaching potential among the young generation of professionals.
