The University senate has approved the TAU Film Department to be turned into “the Tisch School of Film and Television” as a result of Steve Tisch’s generous donation.
Steve Tisch, a partner at Escape Artists and the Chairman and EVP of the New York Football Giants, is the only person with both an Academy Award (Best Picture of Forrest Gump) and a Super Bowl ring. Steve is one of the most successful movie producers in the industry, from “Risky Business” (1983) with Tom Cruise to his more recent credits including “The Pursuit of Happiness” (2006), “The Taking of Pelham 123” (2009), “The Back-Up Plan” (2010), and “Hope Springs”(2012). He has three films scheduled for release this year: “Sex Tape” (2014), starring Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel; “The Equalizer” (2014), starring Denzel Washington. Tisch serves on the Boards of The Geffen Theatre, The Los Angeles County Museum of Art and The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Cancer Center at Duke University, and is the naming benefactor of the sports and fitness center at his alma mater, Tufts University
