General Information

Gal Ringel is a faculty member at the School of Architecture and an affiliated faculty member at the New Environmental School at Tel Aviv University. Her research focuses on sustainable building design, energy performance, and design innovation, with a particular emphasis on adaptive façade systems and climate-responsive architecture.

Gal was a postdoctoral associate at MIT, where she served as Project Architect for the ARPA-E–funded CarbonHouse initiative, investigating the design, theory, and prototyping of composite carbon-based building systems. This work was presented at the 18th Venice Architecture Biennale, the World Real Estate Forum, MIT Energy Night, and ARPA-E’s annual meetings and showcases. Following her postdoctoral research, she served as a lecturer at MIT’s innovation accelerator, MITdesignX, focusing on design innovation and entrepreneurship. She was also a Faculty Fellow at the MIT Office of Sustainability and a member of the MIT Women’s Advisory Group.

She holds a PhD from the Climate and Energy Laboratory in Architecture at the Technion.

Prior to academia, Gal practiced architecture for over 12 years at award-winning firms, leading the design and construction of large-scale mixed-use developments, high-rise double-skin office towers, hotels, and public buildings.
