Bachelor's Degree:
The primary goal of undergraduate directing studies is to introduce students to the fundamentals of theatrical directing, establishing a foundation for specialized studies at the master's level.
This program, within the framework of a single-major BA degree, combines basic practical training in directing with academic exploration of historical, aesthetic, and interpretative aspects of theatre art. Practical training covers fundamental concepts in the theatre medium, including dramatic action, time, space, composition, stage-audience relations, text analysis, and scenes from classical and contemporary plays. Students also engage in production lessons, contributing to university theatre productions by taking on various production roles, such as production management, show management, and assistant directing.
Master's Degree:
The advanced Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in directing aims to provide advanced practical and theoretical specialization in theatre directing. The curriculum includes participation in advanced directing courses and seminars for the master's degree. The second-degree studies emphasize the integration and application of directing work, encompassing the selection, analysis, and interpretation of dramatic texts, conceptualization, rehearsal room processes, director-actor collaboration, and director-designer collaboration. Students complete their second-degree studies with a final project, either directing a play or staging a dramatized reading.
