A prominent Israeli violinist and violist, Nitai Zori performs widely both in Israel and abroad as a soloist, in recitals, in varied chamber music collaborations, and as an orchestral concertmaster. His wide repertoire spans from the Baroque to the present day, including many works dedicated to He is a founding member of the Alexander Piano Trio with cellist Ella Toovy and pianist Michal Tal.
As a concerto soloist Zori has appeared with L'Orchestra del Teatro Dell'Opera in Rome, the Ljubljana Radio and Television Orchestra, the Orquestra Simfonica de Balears Ciutat de Palma, the Vancouver Symphony in Washington, the Ukraine National Symphony, the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, the Israel Symphony Rishon-Letzion, Ra'anana Symphonette, Sinfonietta Beer-Sheva, Barrocade Baroque Collective, and others. He collaborated with conductors such as Mendi Rodan, Noam Sheriff, Omer M. Wellber, Doron Salomon, Gary Bertini, Salvador Brotons, Misha Katz, Noam Zur and Yustus Frantz among others. Festival appearances include the Tanglewood Music Festival, Graz Festival, Beijing's Chopin Festival, Dresden's Contemporary Music Festival, Stuttgart, Warsaw and Zagreb, the Upper Galilee Chamber Music Festival, Israel Festival and Ero Arts Halle.
Mr. Zori is the concertmaster of the Ra'anana Symphonette Orchestra and has also led the Ukraine National Symphony Orchestra, the Orquestra Sinfonica Castilla y Leon in Valladolid, the Kibbutz Chamber Orchestra, Musica Nova Consort, and the Israel Contemporary Players, collaborating with many leading conductors, such as Oliver Knussen Seiji Ozawa, Leonard Bernstein, Michael Tilson Thomas, Leon Fleisher, Ed Spanijard, Zsolt Nagy, and Jesus Lopez Cobos.
He comes from a musical family, having started his musical training with his father, Tzvi Zori. His early violin studies began with Professor Yair Kless, continuing with Ilan Gronich and Professor Piotr Bondarenko. He earned his undergraduate degree at the Tel-Aviv Rubin Music Academy, studying violin with Uri Pianka and viola with Gad Levertov. In the United States, Mr. Zori studied with Isadore Tinkleman at the San Francisco Conservatory and subsequently completed his Master's degree with Professor Yair Kless in Tel Aviv.
A regular winner of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation scholarships, Mr. Zori also won the Paul Ben-Haim Chamber Music Competition and Partos Award. He serves as a senior coach at the David Goldman program for outstanding young musicians at the Jerusalem Music Centre, and at the Young Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra. He is regularly invited to serve as a jury member of various competitions and is on the faculty at the Buchman Mehta School of Music at Tel Aviv University.
