English as a Foreign Language
All applicants applying to the international program who are from non-English speaking countries or are non-native speakers of English must provide proof of English proficiency as specified below:

Undergraduate applicants for B.Mus
Undergraduate applicants are required to reach exemption from English by the end of their second year of study.
We recommend that all applicants take the TOEFL IBT English proficiency test (internet and home edition) by the deadline specified above. Please note that Duolingo is not accepted at Tel Aviv University.

Please note that 79 points are required to get a full exemption; A minimum of 42 points is required to qualify for an advanced English course.
However if you choose not to take the TOEFL IBT, once admitted to studies at the BMSM, you will have to take an AMIR English Proficiency Exam in Israel during the first semester of your studies. (Registration will take place at the beginning of the semester, at the cost of 270 NIS).
Based on the AMIR exam score students will take English courses as follows:
Score of 100-119 – Advanced A course (At Students’ cost: 1,200 NIS)
Score of 120-133 – Advanced B course (no cost)
Score of 134+ - Exemption from English.
Graduate applicants for M.Mus
Graduate applicants for M.Mus are required to reach exemption from English by the end of their first year of study.
All applicants are required to take the TOEFL IBT English proficiency test (internet and home edition) and submit a score of minimum 42 points by the deadline specified above as a condition of admission to the program. Please note that Duolingo is not accepted at Tel Aviv University.

*Applicants currently or previously enrolled in an English-speaking program (undergraduate or graduate) at a recognized academic institution are exempted from submitting English Proficiency scores. Instead, applicants must provide an official letter in original from that institution attesting that the program was taught exclusively in English and, that the student has successfully completed the program.
