Year to Year Examinations and Graduation Requirements

Vocal Department

End of Year Exams and Final Exam - Undergraduate

 

All undergraduate students are required to submit the end of year exam's program, signed by the personal teacher, for a confirmation of the head of the Vocal Department (by email) no later than two weeks prior to the date of the exam.

4th year students have to submit the program to their final exam no later than a month prior to the date of the exam.

 

Program shall include:

·         Timing of each composition separately and total timing of the whole program.

·         Artistic Songs: Name of composer, poet and opus number.

·         Aria/Recitative from an Opera: Name of composer, playwright, opus number, title of Opera and the Aria/Recitative.

·         The guidelines above refer to any other composition as well.

·         The program should be printed and with no mistakes.

·         A program which will not follow the guidelines above will not be accepted.

·         Repetition of pieces which have been performed in previous years is not acceptable.

·         School competitions prize winners will be exempted from end of year exams (excluding final exams). First prize grade would be 100, Second prize would be 98 and third prize would be 96.

 

Requirements for 1st year

 

1) A song or an Aria from the Baroque Era.

2) A song or an Aria from the Classical Era.

3) Two artistic songs.

4) An Aria from an Opera or Oratorio (or two artistic songs at the event that the arias are too difficult for the singer's level).

5) An Israeli artistic song.

6) Three languages are mandatory.

 

Duration of the whole program should be between 10-12 min.

 

Requirements for 2nd year

 

1) A song or an Aria from the Baroque Era.

2) A song or an Aria from the Classical Era.

3) Two artistic songs.

4) An Aria from an Opera or Oratorio (or two artistic songs at the event that the arias are too difficult for the singer's level).

5) An Israeli artistic song.

6) Three languages are mandatory.

 

Duration of the whole program should be 15 min.

 

Requirements for 3rd year

 

1) A song or an Aria from the Baroque Era.

2) A song or an Aria from the Classical Era.

3) Four artistic songs from the following Eras: Classical, Romantic, impressionistic and others. At least two different eras are required.

4) An Aria from an Opera or Oratorio

5) An Israeli artistic song.

6) A contemporary composition.

7) Four languages are mandatory.

 

Program should be constructed as a 30 min. Recital.

 

Requirements for 4th year - Final Exam

 

A full length 60 min. Recital 

 

Please note that participation at the school's competition is not considered as a Final Recital.

 

It is mandatory to submit the program no later than a month before the Final Recital, signed by the personal vocal teacher, for a confirmation of the head of the Vocal Department (by email), as well as a list of repertoire required for degree completion as mentioned below.

 

 The requirements:

 

1) A song or an Aria from the Baroque Era.

2) A song or an Aria from the Classical Era.

3) Four artistic songs from the following Eras: Classical, Romantic, impressionism and others. At least two different eras are required.

4) At least four Arias from an Opera or Oratorio

5) At least two Israeli artistic songs.

6) A contemporary composition.

7) Five languages are mandatory (For example Hebrew, Italian, German, English, Latin, Spanish, Russian, French, Czech, Finnish etc.).

8) At least three public performances during the fourth year are required. Please note dates and venues of each performance you had in the 4th year.

 

List of requirements for degree completion (for submission)

 

1) 30 artistic songs in different eras and languages.

2) At least two complete roles from different Operas.

3) Two roles from Oratorios or Cantatas.

4) At least five Arias from Operas.

5) At least five Israeli pieces.

6) At least two contemporary pieces.

7) A chamber work.

 

 

* Students whom their repertoire isn't suitable with the requirements for some reason must submit a detailed explanation in writing and will consult with their Personal vocal teacher and the head of the Vocal Department.
