Departments

There are four programs of study at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music, three practical and one theoretical:

 

Practical studies:

  • The Department for Instrumental Performance
  • The Department for Vocal Performance
  • The Department for Composition and Orchestral/Choral Conducting

 

Theoretical studies:

  • The Samuel Rubin Musicology Department

 

The Department for Instrumental Performance is divided into four sub-departments:

  • The String Instrument Department (violin, viola, cello, double-bass, as well as  harp studies)

  • The Keyboard Instrument Department (piano, harpsichord and organ)

  • The Wind Instrument and Percussion Department (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, french horn, trombone, tuba and percussion)

  • The Chamber Music Department

 

The Department for Composition and Orchestral/Choral Conducting offers the following courses:

  • Composition studies

  • Orchestral Conducting studies

  • Choral Conducting studies
