Sharon Rostorf-Zamir is one of Israel’s most successful and respected opera singers. At 24, she was already a principal soloist with the Frankfurt Opera House, She has appeared in Europe, Japan and the U.S. in operas, song recitals and as a soloist with orchestras.
In 2004, Mrs. Rostorf-Zamir made her New York City Opera debut as Susanna in Mozart's “Le Nozze di Figaro” to high critical acclaim. She has also sung in the opera houses of Paris, Prague, Bilbao, Madrid, Rome, London and many more. She appears often with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under Zubin Mehta, and has also worked with conductors such as Kurt Masur, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Julius Rudel, Gabor Hollerung, David Stern, Dan Ettinger, and many others.
Israel’s foremost composers, including Gil Shohat, Eugene Levitas, Aharon Harlap, Sharon Farber and Dov Seltzer, have written pieces especially for Mrs. Rostorf-Zamir’s unique vocal and interpretative abilities. Mrs. Rostorf-Zamir also gives regular lieder recitals in Israel and abroad.
Recently, she has performed in Händel's “Amadigi di Gaula” and “Rodrigo” at the Händel Festspiele in Halle, Germany, and recorded both operas with Al Ayre Español for Naïve. She has also recorded Händel’s “Floridante” with the Complesso Barocco and Alan Curtis, for Deutsche Gramophon/Archiv. She has interpreted the role of Agilea in Händel's “Teseo” with the Lautten Compagney in Potsdam, Bayreuth, London and Oxford. This production was released on DVD by Arthaus. She has also recorded the rare German-language version of Händel’s “Messiah” with the same ensemble. Her solo Schumann disc with renowned Israeli pianist Jonathan Zak was released on Romeo Records in 2007 and was rated by Fanfare magazine as one of the 5 recommended recordings of 2008. The Album "Forever to remember", which has been released last year was nominated for best solo album in classical category in 2013 Grammy nominations.
Her new recording of Pasquini cantatas with the Rome based Capella Tiberina has be released by Brilliant records as well as the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra live recording of Mahler's 4th Symphony under the Baton of Dan Ettinger, as well as the Israel Philharmonic orchestra release a dvd of a live performance under the baton of Zubin Mehta and Maestro Kurt Mazur. Sharon performs extensively in recitals and promotes israeli classical music, written for her by Israeli current composers. She teaches voice at the Buchman-Mehta school of music since 2007 and gives regular master classes in Israel and abroad.
